About this piece
Viridian Roar is a made-to-order Studio Product necklace conceived as a dramatic evening-wear statement, with its presence led by an oversized sculptural beast form inspired by the idea of jungle royalty.
Modelled in polished 18ct rose gold, the pendant is built around scale, texture and controlled theatricality. Dense vivid green round emerald pavé forms the dominant surface, giving the creature its rich viridian colour and high-jewellery intensity rather than relying on a single central stone.
Flowing diamond-set rose-gold ribs define the brow, muzzle, chain and stripe details, adding light and structure without overtaking the emerald pavé field. Deep purple carved amethyst cabochons sit through the lower armour-like sections as a distinct secondary feature, while polished black onyx eyes give the face its darker point of focus.
The design is completed with a heavy pavé curb chain, keeping the necklace visually substantial from clasp to pendant. Metals & stones in this piece
Rose gold is an alloy of gold, copper, and a small amount of silver. The copper content gives it that distinctive warm, blush tone and also makes it slightly harder than yellow or white gold, lending good everyday wearability. A polished rose gold surface catches light beautifully, with a mirror-bright sheen that develops a gentle, lived-in warmth over years of wear as microscopic surface marks accumulate into what jewellers call a patina. Emeralds are members of the beryl family and owe their rich green colour to traces of chromium and vanadium. They sit at 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs hardness scale, making them moderately durable, though they are almost universally included with natural fractures and growth characteristics — a quality the trade calls jardin. These inclusions are part of an emerald's identity but do mean the stone requires more careful handling than a diamond or sapphire.
Caring for this piece
Clean your emerald and rose gold piece gently using lukewarm water, a small drop of mild washing-up liquid, and a very soft brush such as a baby toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a lint-free cloth. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners entirely, as vibration and heat can worsen existing fractures within the emerald. Most emeralds are treated with cedar or synthetic resin to improve clarity; harsh solvents, alcohol-based products, and prolonged soaking can strip this treatment. Remove the piece before swimming, gardening, or any activity involving impact. Store it separately from harder gemstones to prevent scratching the polished gold surface. A soft pouch or lined box compartment is ideal. Have the setting checked by a jeweller annually.
